Dees also holds a master’s in operations research from Naval Postgraduate School. He has completed the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the US Army Command and General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He was appointed the executive director for Military Ministry in 2005. This organization focuses on soldiers returning from war with post-traumatic stress. He wrote the Resilience Trilogy and was then appointed Associate Vice President for Military Outreach and Director of Institute for Military Resilience at Liberty University. Dees served as the Defense and National Security advisor for Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson. Kathleen Robinson, his wife, is a volunteer leader in many outreaches to military personnel, including Military Community Youth Ministries. He was elected campaign chairman for the 2016 Ben Carson presidential campaign on December 31, 2015. After the Carson Campaign, Dees began to speak more about veterans issues and resilience. He also became a board member of the Lindell Foundation, and the Lindell Recovery Network. He was elected President of Stone Ridge Foundation in August 2019. Their purpose is to “Return Healthy Veterans to America”.
